Welcome to the Bruised Reed's
devotional section. As you read, may
God richly bless you with his Spirit of comfort and encouragement. Remember that
his grace is free. There are no strings, no hidden clauses. "For through
grace are you saved by faith . . ."
Grace is not something that
we work for, but something that works upon us. "For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
God accepts us just as we are, bruises and all, and with workman's hands molds us into new creations.

May God find in you a heart ready to trust him!

Touching Jesus' Wounds

The young man had had enough religious training to understand
the context of my words. He knew about Jesus, that he had been falsely accused, charged

I don't think we need let the phrase "if the Lord
wills" become another formula on our lips. But I do think that it should become an
attitude in our hearts . . .

The birth of Jesus is not just a time for celebration. While
it is a time for celebration--for singing carols, for decorating the tree, for sending
cards and giving gifts--it is also a time for reflection. You see, there is pain
interwoven throughout the fabric of the Christmas story . . .

What was God's plan for his
servant? ...For one thing, God planned to use him to bring forth justice.
Isaiah says: "The coastlands will wait expectantly for His law."
However, what I
want to concentrate on is the promise:
|
A bruised reed he will not break,
A dimly burning wick He will not extinguish. |
Just what does this mean: A bruised reed he will not break?
